Frequently Asked Questions

How much brush wear should I expect?

On average, users see about 1mm to 2mm of wear per day, depending on the timber type and how much pressure is applied.

Example: A recent customer completed a 60sqm deck and used only 1mm of brush depth. It’s a very cost-effective way to prep large areas compared to traditional sanding discs.

Do I need to use Equisol Stripper with the sander?

Yes! For the best results, we recommend using Equisol Stripper in conjunction with the sander. This combination ensures:

  • Less Manual Labour: The stripper does the heavy lifting by breaking down old coatings first.
  • Better Finish: You get a cleaner, more consistent surface ready for treatment.
  • Cost-Effective: Pre-stripping reduces the friction and heat on the brushes, often resulting in less "mm" usage and a lower final cost for you.

Why is hire only available for Equisol customers?

We are passionate about results. The Brush Sander is specifically curated to work within the Equisol Treatment Process to ensure the timber is opened up perfectly to receive the oil. We provide this equipment as a value-add service to ensure our customers get a world-class finish on their projects.

Is it hard to operate?

Not at all. Unlike a traditional drum sander which can "gouge" or "dig" into the wood, the brush sander is much more forgiving. It follows the natural grain, making it easy to use for both DIYers and pros.
