The accumulator tank features an internal rubber bladder that maintains a volume of water under pressure, serving as a buffer line between your pump and your faucet or spray gun. By absorbing pressure spikes, it prevents your pump from rapidly cycling on and off (the annoying pulsed 'chattering' sound) when you only need low flow. This results in quieter operation, significantly reduced wear and tear on your pump’s motor and switch, and a more comfortable, even flow of water.
